Be my guest...
...since Small Aubergine is a Supper Club, identities need to be kept "under the cloche" for now.
But that does not mean that I canot tell you something about myself - The Cook.
So what set me off on the Supper Club Journey?
I have loved cooking for as long as I can remember and a house full of children, their friends and their friends' friends always guranteed a full dinner table and ample opportunity to feed people. Paired with school fetes, there was also plenty of opportunity to indulge in my love of baking to help kitting out the numerous cake stalls.
But children grow up and leave the nest and opportunities for cooking on a larger scale just get rarer and rarer. My poor husband can only eat so much and friends get kind of bored by the thought of being dragged to my house for yet another dinner party.
So what is one to do? Turn my life around and go down the professional route? The answer to that was a firm NO. I have a job which I love and which enables me to earn a decent living, but most importantly the thought of cooking for money puts me off. Cooking for me is about passion and in my oppinion that does not pair up well with a business plan in the background.
When I stumbled across the concept of the supper club I knew that this was for me. No business pressure, no books to balance. Just sheer cooking for the love of it!
I am not conveniently located in London, but in a fairly quiet corner of the world where Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire meet. In walking distance to a mainline station, I am confident that in time diners will find their way to my table, which by the way seats a maximum of 10 people.
I have the freedom to decide when, what and for whom to cook and my brain is rattling with ever new ideas and recipies to give my potential diners a truly memorable experience.
So, esteemed guest, perhaps you will be taking a seat at my table soon.
I know I shall look forward to it!
